Spring Step Shoes is expanding, and we’re excited to open our second store in South Carolina! We’re looking for a passionate and driven Assistant Store Manager to join our growing team and help bring the Spring Step brand to life in North Charleston, SC.

About the Role
As Assistant Store Manager, you will partner closely with the Store Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the store. You’ll help lead and develop a high-performing team, maintain store standards, execute merchandising and marketing initiatives, and ensure every customer has a world-class shopping experience.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Culture
- Support the Store Manager in fostering a positive, results-driven sales culture
- Motivate and coach associates to perform at their best
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, and developing top talent
Sales & Customer Experience
- Promote a team-selling environment to drive sales and strengthen customer relationships
- Ensure world-class customer service is consistently delivered
Training & Development
- Coach, mentor, and train associates in sales techniques, product knowledge, and operational processes
- Provide feedback and support performance management in the Store Manager’s absence
Store Operations & Merchandising
- Oversee inventory management, merchandising, and visual presentation
- Support marketing initiatives and in-store displays
- Ensure compliance with risk management, security, and daily operational procedures
Financial & Operational Oversight
- Assist in monitoring sales performance and store KPIs
- Support loss prevention initiatives, cash handling, and compliance with operational policies
Qualifications & Skills
- Retail Experience: Minimum 1 year in a sales-driven retail environment
- Industry Knowledge: Experience in footwear, fashion, or specialty retail a plus
- Customer Focus: Proven ability to deliver excellent service and build strong customer relationships
- Leadership & Teamwork: Motivates others, fosters teamwork, and creates a positive work environment
- Problem-Solving: Strong decision-making skills with a focus on operational efficiency
- Technology Skills: Comfortable using POS systems and basic software applications
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, climb an 8-foot ladder, stand for long periods, and bend as necessary
- Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
